Interim Pastor Louise Bastille

Meditation Moment

--from Becoming Bread, Meditations on Loving and Transformation by Gunilla Norris

We are united through sharing…our lives made meaningful…made new. “Take. Eat. This is my body,” said Jesus when He broke the bread at the Last Supper. Then He gave His life for us. Behind all communion is the knowledge that we must give our lives to each other, for each other.

And when we do, we can celebrate, we can morn, we can trust, we can forgive, we can treasure, we can face our deaths. By sharing we are transformed and come to understand with Meister Eckhart that “all bread is ours and is given to me, to others through me, and to me through others. For not only bread but all things necessary for sustenance in this life are given on loan to us with others and to others through us.”

In sharing, the meaning of our lives is given back to God.
